God sent Jesus so we could KNOW Him

Who is Jesus?

We are a people whose lives have been made new by Jesus. We believe Jesus is our:

Living Savior

Jesus lived an earthly life free of sin because we couldn’t. He died on the cross to atone for the sins of all mankind and to undo the separation we once had with God. Jesus is actively drawing people to himself with the free offer of forgiveness to anyone who will believe that he is who he says he is and trust him. His offer is not conditional and not based on anything we do or don’t do; it is a free gift from a Living Savior who created us to have fellowship with him.

Risen Lord

When we say that Jesus is our “Risen Lord”, we don’t mean it metaphorically, but literally. Jesus rose from the dead, appeared to eye-witnesses, and is currently alive and at work through the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth. Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, refused to believe that Jesus had risen until he physically placed his hands in the nail wounds from his crucifixion, to which Jesus responded, “Blessed are those who have not seen, yet believe.”

Friend

Jesus is available to all that would seek him. He asks us to cast our cares and anxieties on him and to seek his direction in all areas of life. He promises to never leave us nor forsake us. When we believe, he begins a process of transformation within us, making us more and more like him, molding us into his disciples and enabling us to reflect his love and carry out his perfect and specific will for our lives.

God

Jesus is, and always has been God. According to the Bible, he was with God and he was God before the Earth was even created. He was “begotten” by God, and though fully man while on this earth, he never ceased to also be fully God. To truly atone for sin, he had to bear the weight of our fallen humanity, making him the God who understands the trials and challenges of life and who is able to sustain us through them.

MORE ABOUT JESUS

If you want to learn more about Jesus, the Bible is the best place to start. We encourage you to start reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John which details the life and earthly ministry of Jesus.  Also you may want to consider reading the book of Romans.

 What to Expect

General

When you arrive at Discovery you will experience a welcoming coffee-shop style environment.  Feel free to grab something to drink and check in your kids (if you have any).  Dress is casual so feel free to wear jeans, or something comfortable.

 Music

We sing and worship because God is worthy of our praise.  Each week we sing together about and to God to remind one another of his amazing grace and love poured out through Jesus into our hearts by his Spirit.  Lyrics are projected on a big screen for everyone to follow.

Children

During our worship time, we have childcare for infants and toddlers, and a special service for all kids 5th grade and under. Feel free to check your kids in before one of our services and let them enjoy playing, singing, and learning about Jesus in a kid-friendly environment with teachers who love to engage our kids with the love of Jesus.

Teaching

We are committed to proclaiming the good news of Jesus as the central story taught through the accurate explanation of Scripture. The pastor’s message is a primary aspect of our service and lasts between 30 and 45 minutes.

Our Mission

KNOW  •  GROW  •  GO

Our Mission is to help people Know God, Grow in the Gospel and Go Change the World

The reason Discovery Church exists is to glorify God.  We believe that God is most glorified in us when we learn to trust and find satisfaction in Him alone.  We are committed to helping others follow Jesus by living and teaching the Gospel. We seek to glorify God by treasuring Him in corporate and private worship, communicating with Him through prayer, growing in our knowledge of Him through Bible study and experiencing genuine community through fellowship. We also desire to live on mission to share His love to our greater community by serving others and giving of our gifts, talents and resources.
